Mauritius is a well-known kitesurf destination, mostly thanks to Le Morne's kite lagoon — flat, shallow water inside the reef, steady trade winds, and a short walk from the open-water spots further out. Below: verified schools and rental operators by region, each with a contact we sourced ourselves on their own site or page, not a reseller.
What's the difference between kitesurf, wingfoil and windsurf?
All three use the wind to glide over the water, but the equipment differs — a kite on lines for kitesurfing, a handheld inflatable wing for wingfoiling (usually on a hydrofoil board), and a mast-mounted sail for windsurfing. Most schools below teach more than one.
Why is Le Morne the main spot?
Le Morne's lagoon has a flat, shallow inside section protected by the reef (good for beginners) and a stronger outside swell further out, with reliable trade winds for much of the year — it's one of the reasons Mauritius is known internationally for kitesurfing.
Do I need to already know how to kitesurf?
No — most of the operators below offer lessons for beginners as well as gear rental for experienced riders. Check each operator's own site or page for its specific courses.
Is Le Morne the only spot?
Most schools cluster around Le Morne, but DivingMauritius also lists verified operators in 3 regions, including the north coast.
How do I book?
Contact the operator directly using the sourced phone, WhatsApp, email or website on its card — DivingMauritius does not take bookings.
