Blue and black marlin, sailfish, tuna, dorado and wahoo, mostly trolled a few miles offshore. Trips depart from two main clusters: the west coast around Black River and Le Morne — several operators here are based at Le Morne Anglers Club, a private fishing club rather than a bookable operator in its own right — and the north coast around Grand Baie. Below: verified operators by region, each with a contact we sourced ourselves on their own site or page, not a reseller.

Catch and release
Practices vary by operator. Fish Whisperer offers catch and release on billfish it lands (its own site, consulted 2026-11-04), and JPH Charters states a strict catch-and-release policy covering all billfish, sharks and white tuna (jph.mu). Other species, and other operators, are typically kept — several sell part of the catch, or fillet some for clients to take home. We take no position on any operator's choice; look for the "Tag & release" pill below, or ask directly if it matters to you.
Season
Fishing runs year-round, but billfish activity is not constant. JPH Charters' own site puts peak marlin action from November to April (jph.mu); Golden Wave Charters similarly notes blue marlin thrive in the Mauritian summer months, with black marlin more present in the cooler winter (goldenwave.mu). Treat these as indicative, not guaranteed, and sourced from two operators rather than an official calendar.
